The Rituals of Hajj

Below is the step by step guide for performing Hajj:


Day 1  (8th of Dhul Hijjah)

  • Wearing Ihram garments
  • Heading towards Mina either by walking or using buses/ cars
  • Staying at Mina till the next morning at dawn
  • Time is spent in prayer and remembering Allah (SWT)

Day 2 (9th of Dhul Hijjah)

  • The Day of Arafat - one of the most important days of the Islamic Calendar
  • Pilgrims stay here in Arafat till sunset
  • After sunset, pilgrims head towards Muzdalifah
  • Spend the night here in Muzdalifah and collect pebbles for next day

 Day 3 (10th Of Dhul Hijjah)

  • The Day of Eid-ul-Adha
  • Pilgrims head back to Mina from Muzdalifah just before the sunset
  • After reaching Mina, pilgrims perform the first Rami, throwing seven pebbles at the largest of three columns (Jamaraat)
  • Next step is of sacrificing, pilgrims slaughter animals
  • After slaughtering the animals, pilgrims shave their heads (men only) and remove their Ihram garments
  • Now they head towards Makkah and perform Tawaf and Sa'ee
  • When it is done, they return back to Mina

Final Days  (11th, 12th & 13th of Dhul Hijjah)

  • On each day, pilgrims throw seven pebbles at each of the three pillars
  • Now, pilgrims return to Makkah and perform their final Tawaf

Umrah Packages 2017

The Rites of Umrah

Below is the step by step guide for performing Umrah:

  • Being in Ihram for Umrah before passing the Meeqat
  • Entering Masjid Al Haram
  • Performing Tawaf
  • After performing Tawaf, proceeding to Maqaam-e-Ibraheem and offer two Rak'ahs (it is preferred to recite Surah Al-Kafiroon and Surah Al-Ikhlaas in the first and second Rak'ah respectively after Surah Al-Fatihah)
  • Now, heading towards Saffa and Marwah for performing Sa'ee
  • After completing Sa'ee, trimming or cutting the hair

Note: For men, it is recommended to shave all their hair but they can also trim it all the way round. Women are to shorten their hair by a finger tip.
